Vortex Tone Generator

I don't know why, but the Vortex can produce a set of very high quality sine waves ranging from 125Hz to 14kHz.
  1. power up vortex while holding both 'A/B' and 'REGISTER/PRESET'.
  2. hit 'REGISTER/PRESET' again.
  3. turn preset knob until OB appears, (or OA).
  4. press 'REGISTER/PRESET' button.
  5. turn reg/pre knob to produce a series of tones.
  6. parameter knob varies the volume.
I guess it's to do with checking the correct functioning before letting it out of the factory. Anyway this is part of what is known as the 'diagnostic mode', which produces a number of much less useful effects.(Beware though, one setting will erase all your patches!)

If, when you get to instruction iii) on the list you select a different value from the preset knob you can access other functions:-

Tests that complete successfully will display 'PA', otherwise a fail should display 'Er'. Thanks to Brad Knox for filling in the gaps.
